An extraordinary day of flowers, historic architecture and professional experience for our Berlin Flower
School Careers Course students.
Some days at Berlin Flower School, the classroom extends far beyond the studio, and our students step into the world of professional wedding and event floristry. Our Bridgerton-inspired wedding editorial at Villa Aurea in Potsdam was one of those unforgettable experiences. Set against the beautiful architecture of Villa Aurea, with its elegant villa atmosphere and lakeside setting on the Lehnitzsee, the shoot provided the perfect backdrop for a romantic celebration inspired by the elegance and grandeur of the Regency era. For our Careers Course students, this was much more than a beautiful photoshoot. It was a chance to experience what it really means to work as a professional wedding florist—from the first creative ideas to dismantling the entire installation.
A beautiful location with timeless character
Located directly on the Lehnitzsee in Potsdam, Villa Aurea offers a wonderful combination of architectural elegance, natural surroundings and an intimate atmosphere. The villa's character, refined setting, and the interplay between the building, garden, and water create an inspiring environment for wedding design.
For a Bridgerton-inspired editorial, the location felt particularly fitting. The romance of historic architecture, the sense of a private estate, and the beautiful surroundings offered a setting where floral design could become part of a larger visual story.
When creating wedding flowers, understanding a venue is just as important as understanding flowers themselves. A location's architecture, proportions, light, colours, and atmosphere all influence the floral concept.
Our students had the opportunity to experience this firsthand, learning how to develop floral designs that complement a venue rather than simply decorate it.
Behind the scenes: learning to create a professional wedding editorial
One of the most valuable parts of our four-week Floristry Careers Course is the opportunity to work on a real-life editorial photoshoot.
For this project, our students were involved in the entire process. Together, we created the floral arrangements and installations, prepared the flowers, transported the designs to the venue and worked on the complete setup.
This is where the experience becomes particularly valuable. Creating a beautiful arrangement in the studio is one thing; delivering a complete floral concept at a wedding location, within a schedule and as part of a team, is something entirely different.
Throughout the day, our students learned about:
Developing and preparing floral designs for a professional wedding editorial.
Understanding the requirements of a real wedding venue and adapting designs to the space.
Organising flowers, materials, transport and the practical logistics of a shoot.
Working together as a team during the setup and styling process.
Understanding how photographers, models, florists and other creative professionals collaborate.
Dismantling the installation and managing the practical work at the end of the shoot.
From the first flowers arriving at the venue to the final details being styled for the camera, our students were part of the complete production.
It is an experience that brings together floral technique, creativity, organisation and teamwork — all essential skills for anyone hoping to work professionally in the wedding industry.

Our model, Naomi Onvuemeli brought the bridal concept to life, adding to the romantic, timeless character of the shoot.
Working alongside professional creatives gives our students an insight into the different roles involved in a wedding production. They see how floral designs translate into photographs, how styling decisions are made on location, and how important timing, communication, and attention to detail are.
Another particularly exciting benefit: after the shoot, our students have access to professional photographs of their work.
These images let them build a portfolio that showcases their floral designs in a professional wedding setting — something that can be incredibly useful when approaching flower shops, wedding florists, and event companies for employment or future collaborations.
