Bridgerton Meets Contemporary Wedding Design: Behind the Scenes of Our Bridal Editorial
There is something magical about stepping into another era.
For our latest Berlin Flower School Careers Course editorial, we invited our students to immerse themselves in the romantic world of Bridgerton—reimagined through a contemporary lens. Rather than recreating Regency England, our goal was to capture its timeless elegance while interpreting it for the modern luxury wedding.
This editorial forms one of the highlights of our Floristry Careers Course and takes place during the second week of the programme. I believe that today's floral designers need far more than excellent technical skills. They need to understand visual storytelling, styling, branding, photography and collaboration. Editorial work teaches all of these disciplines simultaneously.
Our chosen location was the magnificent Körnerpark in Berlin-Neukölln. With its grand staircases, symmetrical gardens and classical architecture, the park provided the perfect setting for a romantic wedding inspired by English aristocratic gardens. Every corner felt cinematic, allowing students to think beyond individual floral arrangements and instead create an entire atmosphere.
Our colour palette combined delicate peaches, soft lavenders and creamy whites, creating a refined balance between romance and freshness. To introduce a contemporary twist, we incorporated sprayed asparagus fern throughout the floral designs. The delicate foliage added movement, texture and an unexpected sculptural quality that contrasted beautifully with the softness of the flowers.
Throughout the day, students worked together to create every floral element—from the bridal bouquet and ceremony flowers to elegant styling details that completed the visual narrative. They experienced what it truly means to work as a creative team under professional conditions, adapting to changing light, coordinating with photographers and refining every detail until the composition felt complete.
Our beautiful bride, Naomi Onvuemeli, brought grace and effortless elegance to every image. Behind the camera, photographer Katja Knetschke captured every floral detail with extraordinary sensitivity, preserving not only the arrangements but also the atmosphere we had created together.
For many students, this editorial becomes one of the most transformative experiences of the entire course. Seeing their work professionally photographed helps them understand proportion, colour, texture and composition in an entirely new way. It also provides them with high-quality portfolio images that become invaluable when approaching future clients, employers or launching their own businesses.
Most importantly, they discover that floristry is about much more than arranging flowers. It is about creating emotion. It is about telling stories. It is about designing experiences that people remember long after the flowers have faded.
Watching our students grow in confidence throughout the day is always one of the most rewarding moments of the Careers Course, and I cannot wait to share the final photographs with you soon.
I'm equally excited to announce that our next Careers Course in September will once again feature an exclusive editorial wedding shoot—this time at a spectacular new location. While we're keeping the concept a secret a little longer, students can look forward to another immersive experience that combines luxury wedding styling, floral artistry, creative direction and professional portfolio photography. Every course offers a completely new editorial concept, ensuring that each group enjoys a unique creative experience and leaves with a portfolio unlike any other.
I can't wait to reveal what's coming next.
