Learning Through Real Wedding Styling: Behind the Scenes of Our Bridal Editorial Shoot
One of the most exciting additions to the Berlin Flower School Careers Course is our editorial wedding shoot, which takes place during the second week of the programme.
I strongly believe that becoming a successful floral designer requires more than simply learning how to arrange flowers. Today's florists need to understand styling, branding, photography, teamwork, and how to create beautiful work under real-world conditions. That is why every Careers Course includes a professionally photographed editorial shoot, planned and executed by the students as a team.
For this particular shoot, we explored a modern interpretation of a Bridgerton-inspired wedding. The colour palette centred around soft peach and lavender tones, creating a romantic and elegant atmosphere while avoiding an overly traditional look.
Our location was the beautiful Körnerpark in Neukölln, Berlin, whose classical architecture and formal gardens provided the perfect backdrop for a contemporary aristocratic wedding story. The setting felt both timeless and sophisticated, allowing us to blend historical inspiration with modern floral design.
To bring a contemporary edge to the styling, we incorporated sprayed asparagus fern foliage throughout the floral designs. This subtle detail introduced texture, movement, and a slightly unexpected element that balanced the softness of the flowers. The result was a look that felt romantic yet current—a signature combination that many modern couples are looking for today.
The shoot featured the beautiful model Naomi Onvuemeli, whose elegance brought the bridal concept to life, and was photographed by the talented Katja Knetschke. We are incredibly excited to see the final images.
What makes these editorial shoots so valuable for our students is that they gain hands-on experience creating wedding work on location, collaborating with other creatives, and understanding how professional styled shoots are produced from concept to execution. In addition, every student receives access to the professionally edited photographs afterwards, allowing them to begin building a strong portfolio for future clients and employers.
These experiences are often where confidence begins to grow. Students see how their floral designs perform in front of the camera, learn the importance of styling details, and discover how flowers contribute to the overall visual story.
