Why the Berlin Flower School Is So Unique !

When people ask me what makes the Berlin Flower School different, I never begin by talking about flowers.

I begin by talking about people.

Every student who joins one of my courses arrives with a different story. Some are changing careers after years in another profession. Others dream of opening their own floral studio or specialising in luxury weddings. Some already work with flowers but want to refine their design style and gain the confidence to charge what their work is truly worth.

What they all have in common is the desire to grow.

That is why the Berlin Flower School has always been about much more than teaching floristry.

I Teach People, Not Just Techniques

Learning how to create a beautiful bouquet is important, but it is only one part of becoming a successful florist.

Throughout my career as a designer, educator, and luxury wedding florist, I realised that confidence comes from understanding why a design works—not simply copying it.

In every course, I explain the principles behind every arrangement: colour harmony, proportion, balance, movement, mechanics, seasonality, sustainability, and design thinking. My goal is not for students to recreate my work, but to develop the knowledge and confidence to create their own.

A Design Education, Not Just a Floristry Course

Before founding the Berlin Flower School, I studied Textile Design at Central Saint Martins in London and completed a Master's degree in Design Management. I have worked in trend forecasting, editorial design, branding, and higher education for many years.

These experiences shaped my approach to teaching.

My students don't just learn how to arrange flowers—they learn how to think like designers.

They discover how inspiration becomes a concept, how colour creates emotion, how texture influences atmosphere, and how floral design can tell a story.

This creative mindset gives them the confidence to work on weddings, editorial projects, events, and luxury celebrations with originality and purpose.

Learning Through Experience

The Careers Course is an intensive four-week programme where students create floral designs every single day.

From bridal bouquets and ceremony flowers to reception tables and large-scale installations, every project reflects the work of a professional wedding florist.

Working in small groups means every student receives individual guidance, personal feedback, and the opportunity to ask questions throughout the day. It creates a supportive environment where skills develop quickly and confidence grows naturally.

Preparing Students for a Career

Technical skills alone are not enough to build a successful business.

That is why I also teach branding, pricing, client communication, marketing, and how to work with wedding planners, venues, photographers, and other creative professionals.

Understanding the wedding industry is just as important as understanding flowers.

I want every student to leave knowing not only how to create exceptional floral designs, but also how to build a career that is financially sustainable and creatively fulfilling.

Sustainability at the Heart of Every Design

Sustainability is one of the core values of the Berlin Flower School.

Throughout the courses, students learn how to create elegant designs using thoughtful mechanics and environmentally conscious techniques wherever possible. I believe beautiful floristry and responsible floristry should always go hand in hand.

Confidence Is the Greatest Skill

The biggest transformation I witness is not technical.

It is personal.

Students arrive unsure of their abilities, questioning whether they are good enough to work professionally.

Over the weeks, I watch them solve creative challenges, trust their own judgement, develop their own design style, and begin to believe in themselves.

That confidence stays with them long after the course has ended.
